This is my first massage. What should I expect for my first session?
Upon arrival, you will fill out intake information that includes any areas you would like the Massage Therapist to focus on as well as any areas of restriction that you would like the Massage Therapist to avoid. The intake form also inquires on past injuries, surgeries and health history. This is important as certain guidelines must be adhered to with certain medications and on-going conditions. This information may prompt the Massage Therapist to avoid certain massage techniques during the session or modifying the session as a whole in order to produce a satisfying and safe outcome. Safety first is essential for all clients.
The Massage Therapist will spend a few minutes going over your information and also to confirm what outcome you are looking for pertaining to the massage session. If you have a Relaxation Massage, the overall massage is typically full body. A deep tissue massage only focuses on areas of pain and stiffness the client would like to have addressed. The session may include Trigger Point Release techniques, Myofascial Release, deep kneading and stretching on a localized part of the body. Each session is customized with the client's wants and needs in mind.
Prior to the start of the session, the Massage Therapist will leave the room and you will undress to your level of comfort before getting on the table, under a sheet and blanket for modesty. The Massage Therapist can work around/through clothing, but keep in mind, with clothing on, techniques will be reduced to compression only. Most clients choose to keep just their underwear on, which allows for greatest access to the back and legs. Modest draping will be enforced at ALL times!
The Massage Therapist will then perform the massage session, keeping in mind the clients areas of concerns on their intake, the areas of restrictions and any modifications of modalities needed due to any health conditions.
At the end of the session, the Massage Therapist will leave the room as you redress. Post session assessment, payment and re-booking will occur the end of each session.
What is your Draping Policy?
To preserve all clients' modesty, Virtue & Rose firmly adheres to full draping at all times. What this means is only the body part currently being worked on will be exposed. Genitals (both genders) and breasts (for women) always remain draped - No Exceptions! As for pectoral work, massage therapy is limited to 3 fingers below the clavicle line (also known as upper chest area). As for gluteal work, all massage therapy is performed over the sheet with compression using hand tools (fists, elbow and forearm). Always communicate with the Massage Therapist regarding any areas of restriction and your level of comfort - your comfort during your session is important.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
Any cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance will be graciously rescheduled for another date of your convenience. Any cancellations made same day will be charged 50% of the session fee to the card on file. No Shows will be charged 100% of the session fee to the card on file. Scheduling conflicts are expected in this busy world, but please be courteous and call to reschedule for a better suited time.
I am Pregnant. Can I still get a massage?
The answer is YES! Pregnant clients must be past their first trimester (13+ weeks) to receive massage from Virtue & Rose. Pregnant clients will have massage performed while side-lying; modest draping will still be adhered to in this position. Any client with a high risk pregnancy will require an authorization from their Healthcare Provider prior to receiving massage.
How old do I have to be to get a massage?
Although minors are allowed to have massage therapy, all clients under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present in the room at all times during the session. Minors will also not have any gluteal or upper pectoral work done during the session. Minimum age to schedule a session is 10. Why would a minor get a massage you ask? Massage Therapy is a great option in helping minors recover from athletic sports they are involved in and can also help reduce symptoms from anxiety, depression and ADHD.
Right to End a Session
Virtue & Rose strives to provide compassionate touch with integrity and providing a safe, comfortable environment is a high priority. A client is welcome to end a session early at any time should they no longer feel comfortable with the service being provided. Conversely, the Massage Therapist is also allowed to end a session early and has zero tolerance to sexual misconduct. Any sessions ended early will not be refunded.
